Pharmaceutical Microbiology Doctoral Program
Pharmaceutical Microbiology doctorate program was opened to the general assembly with the decision of Turkish Higher education council, dated 22nd of August 2013 and numbered article 75850160.104.01.04.6213/45369.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology, studies the properties of microorganisms that cause infections in humans, the diseases caused by microorganisms and microbiological methods for the diagnosis of these diseases. In addition, the production of antimicrobial agents and microbial products, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals microbiological quality control procedures, methods of sterilization-disinfection and general hygiene issues such as interest-enters the Pharmaceutical Microbiology. Our department is an interdisciplinary field of science in the field of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and aims to educate individuals such as pharmacists, basic scientists and researchers assimilated the basic concepts and applications in all areas of the profession. In addition, our department also aims to current research by following the developments closely in the field of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Medical Microbiology serving public health and transfer the knowledge to the world of science, industry and the society in national and international platform, most effectively.
The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 21 local credits (equivalent to 120 ECTS credits) from thought courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, achieved a CGPA (grade point average) of at least 3.50 out of 4.00 and prepared and successfully defended a thesis are given Doctoral Degree in MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY field. The candidates applying to Ph.D. programme with an M.A degree should; 1- have diplomas for MA and B.A. degrees, 2- have required scores from ALES and KPDS, 3- have required scores from second-language exams recognized by the Inter-University Committee, 4- be successful in the interview administered by the Department. The candidates applying to Ph.D. programme with a B.A. degree should; 1- have a B.A. degree with 85.00 or more graduation scores on the scale of 100, 2- have scores of minimum 90 points from the related type of ALES, 3- have required scores from second-language exams recognized by the Inter-University Committee, 4- be successful in the interview administered by the Department. Qualification Requirements and Regulations; Ph.D students with a prior M.A degree should; 1- attend courses of the accepted Department or related departments with minimum 21 credits (120 ECTS) and at least one seminar and pass them with a minimum score of 80 points, 2- pass the Ph.D. Qualification Test, 3- prepare a written dissertation (120 ECTS) and defend it before a jury of experts for the PhD. degree. Ph.D students with a prior B.A. degree should; 1-attend courses of the accepted Department or related departments with minimum 42 credits (150 ECTS) and at least one seminar and pass them with a minimum score of 80 points, 2- pass the Ph.D. Qualification Test, 3- prepare a written dissertation (150 ECTS) and defend it before a jury of experts for the PhD. degree. Students who successfully complete the Ph.D. programme and meet the requirements of the courses can have a further academic career by being employed in the University as a faculty member meeting the requirements of “Faculty Members Acceptance and Preferment Criteria”. In addition, they can apply to post-doc programmes.
Graduates can find the opportunity to work in quality control laboratories in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, the provincial control laboratories and research centers. |
